This 8-hour, in-person course is designed to provide public safety professionals with the essential knowledge, skills, and decision-making tools required of first responding officers during barricade incidents. The focus is on safely stabilizing the situation, reducing risk, and preserving life until specialized resources arrive.

Participants will learn how to effectively contain, de-escalate, communicate, and transition barricade incidents to SWAT and crisis negotiators. Topics include defining barricade situations, initial response priorities, the Four Cs of barricade response (Contain, Control, Communicate, Coordinate), effective communication and active listening skills, and post-incident responsibilities.
