The goal of this 8-hour class is to provide public safety professionals with the basic knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for an initial responding officer to effectively contain, de-escalate, communicate and transition to SWAT/Crisis Negotiators during a barricade incident.
Although the course covers multiple aspects of barricades, the focus is on communicating.
Topics include defining barricade situations, initial response, the four Cs of a barricade (Contain, Control, Communicate, Coordinate), effective communication, active listening skills, and post incident responsibilities.
